Uma’s research focuses on global risks associated with AI and biotechnology to promote democratic governance and international cooperation. She is seconded through GovAI to serve as a Policy Advisor in the Strategic Foresight Unit of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Previously, Uma served as the Strategy & Innovation Director for 18by Vote, a US nonprofit dedicated to engaging young voters that was featured on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and conducted data and AI governance research at the Governance Lab. She holds a Master of Public Policy from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) and a Master of Global Affairs from the University of Toronto.
